Are  Overwhelmed with Decisions and Details?

Alexandra Noel Pena Founder and Priciple Designer at ANP Akamai Design-Build.png

We often hear stories of remodels and builds that start with excitement but quickly spiral into chaos. Clients share experiences of constant changes, miscommunication between contractors, delays, and skyrocketing costs. One family told us about their kitchen remodel that was supposed to take three months but stretched to nearly a year due to poor planning and endless last-minute changes. It’s a common problem in the industry—a lack of clear processes and procedures from the start.

At ANP Akamai, we know these challenges all too well, and we’ve built a system to eliminate them from day one. We start with a solid foundation—clear communication, a well-defined scope, and detailed planning. By addressing potential issues early on, like coordinating with vendors, setting realistic timelines, and sticking to the design plan, we take control of the process. With the right steps in place, we overcome the typical roadblocks and ensure a smooth, organized project, delivering a finished space without the stress or surprises.

The Akamai Way

01

Smart Start Call (20 Minutes)

We begin with a quick 20-minute Smart Start Call to get to know each other and see if we’re the right fit for your project. It’s a great opportunity to share your ideas and learn about how we can help.

02

On-Site Consultation

Next, we’ll meet on-site to explore the scope of the project and evaluate its feasibility. This helps us understand the space, identify potential challenges, and get clear on what’s possible.

03

Onboarding and Foundation

Once you’re on board, we’ll lay the groundwork for smooth communication and set clear expectations. This ensures everyone is on the same page and ready for the next steps.

04

Design Process

Here’s where the magic happens! We’ll take your ideas and turn them into a complete vision, including layouts, colors, materials, and renderings of architectural details and interior design. This is where your dream space starts to come to life.

05

Review and Approval

You’ll review the design, and we’ll make any necessary adjustments to ensure everything is perfect and aligned with your vision. We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied before moving forward.

06

Curation, Procurement, and Coordination

We’ll carefully curate furniture, decor, and materials, and handle all procurement. At the same time, we’ll coordinate with your construction team to make sure everything aligns with the design plan.

07

Design Implementation and Final Reveal

As construction nears completion, we’ll step in to implement all the design elements, setting the stage for the final reveal. When everything is in place, we’ll do a final walkthrough to make sure you’re completely happy before signing off.

This step-by-step process ensures clarity, communication, and a smooth journey from start to the final reveal, making sure your project is in expert hands throughout!

Q&A FACTS

  • Q: How can you make a residential design-remodel more eco-friendly without blowing the budget?
A: Focus on energy-efficient materials like low-VOC paint, LED lighting, and good insulation. Choose local materials to reduce costs, and opt for energy-efficient appliances that save money long-term. These options are both sustainable and budget-friendly.

  • Q: What’s the best way to remodel a commercial space without disrupting daily business operations?
A: Plan the project in phases and work on different areas at different times. Use temporary walls to keep the business running, and schedule disruptive work, like demolition, during off-hours. Good communication and a clear timeline help minimize disruption.

  • Q: How can you make sure the interior of a home remodel matches the style of the exterior?
A: Match materials, colors, and design elements inside and outside. For example, a modern exterior should have a sleek, minimalist interior, while a traditional home should feature classic details and rich textures. Using complementary styles ensures the two look cohesive.

  • Q: How do you update a historic building in a remodel while keeping its original charm?
A: Keep important features like moldings or fireplaces, and restore them. Add modern updates, like kitchens and bathrooms, in a way that doesn’t overpower the historic elements. Use materials and designs that fit with the building’s original style.

  • Q: How does CAPS certification help with designing accessible and inclusive spaces for both homes and businesses?
A: CAPS-certified designers know how to make spaces accessible without sacrificing style. For homes, this might include things like roll-in showers or wider doorways. In businesses, CAPS ensures ADA compliance while making spaces user-friendly for everyone, with a focus on both function and design.
